Hi friends!
My apologies for this unscheduled break; I meant to be back sooner but life and technology happened. For the latter part, I had recorded 3 videos with my Road ID on (it’s a tag that attaches to your Apple Watch and it includes your name and emergency contacts) without realizing just how clear it would be on video. This video is the last one with it on, so I had to mask the information out so it would be unreadable. However, I did it a different way this time than the other 2 times, and I messed it up at some point and had to go back and redo the whole thing. Basically, it is going through frame by frame, 17+ minutes, 60 seconds a minute, 30 frames per second which means more than 30,000 frames. Twice. Not fun!
Let’s get down to business, shall we? My husband’s 40th birthday was in April 2019, and I surprised him with a trip to Malta. The trip was going to be over the Easter weekend, so I was looking for something that wasn’t as crowded (like Rome would be), and I thought about going to Greece but trying to pick a hotel/Airbnb there seemed like a daunting task. So I picked Malta I think after learning about the Game Of Thrones tour that they have there.
We stayed at the Intercontinental in St. Julian’s since the only direct flight from Frankfurt each day gets in late in the evening, and I felt more comfortable booking a hotel for a late arrival. The hotel was in a pretty busy area with bars and restaurants. I feel like that may have been a good spot if we were younger! But once you’re inside the hotel, you don’t hear the outside noise at all.
Aside from the Game of Thrones tour, we went back to Valletta to walk around the city, and we took a ferry to Gozo and did a hop on/hop off style tour. We had a really good time despite how incredibly windy it was. We would love to go back during the summer and take advantage of the water activities available there.
For this part of the video, I did 3 spreads; one single-page and two 2-page spreads, with the last page being about the last part of April back in Germany.
As per usual, the background information on how I document: I document Project Life monthly, and I don’t limit the number of spreads that I do per month (for April 2019, there are five spreads). I print my photos at home using an Epson PictureMate PM-400 for most of my photos under 5×7 on Epson paper; Canon Pixma Pro-100 for anything larger on Kirkland photo paper (from Costco) for anything 8.5″x11″ and under. To print elements, journal and filler cards, I use an Epson ET-2650, and for printing on vellum, I use a Canon laser printer – LB6030w. The page protectors are held in a white 9×12 album by Studio Calico, and the 9×12 inserts I use are from Studio Calico and Ali Edwards. My roller date stamp is 1Canoe2 and I stamped all the dates using the Memento London Fog ink.
For the title cards, I used the AC gold foam alphas from Target. The rose gold tab I used for the flip journaling is from Avery. The journal card I cut up and used on the GoT Tour card is from In A Creative Bubble’s Scenic Route. The typewritten label was made using a We R Memory Keepers typewriter on white cardstock and stapled using a Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher.
The journal cards from this spread are from Kelly Purkey, and the Valletta title was made using AC gold foam alphas from Target. The typewritten labels were made using a We R Memory Keepers typewriter on white cardstock and stapled using a Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher.
Left: The journal cards are from Kelly Purkey, the Gozo title was made using AC gold foam alphas from Target, and the “Wander” sticker is from Everyday Explorers. The typewritten labels were made using a We R Memory Keepers typewriter on white cardstock and stapled using a Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher.
Right: The “Game Night” card I designed myself and you can download it below! The white pen used for journaling is a Uniball Signo broad pen. The “Around Town” and “Mouth Watering” stamps are from Kelly Purkey and I used Memento London Fog ink and Brilliance Moonlight White respectively.
Here’s the download for the game night cards.
Finally, the video is down below. I hope you enjoy!
Stay healthy,
